Rudy for Model Number 106.9552882 This Kenmore has been making ice for years. Recently, it can't keep the bin full. After a day or two, it starts catching up. Possible thermostat problem? Thanks
Answer Hello Rudy, This can be caused by a failing cycling thermostat in the icemaker assembly or a bad heating element for the ice mold. Either one can cause a slow ice production complaint. This can also be caused by the temperature in the freezer compartment not being set low enough. If the temperature in the freezer is 20°F or higher, the cycling thermostat will not cycle the icemaker on. If it is very close, like 18°F or 19°F, it may still produce the complaint. It is advisable to replace the complete icemaker assembly D7824706Q to correct the issue if temperatures in the freezer compartment are set to maintain between 0°F and 10°F. Read More...
