Joe Mc. for Model Number jdp36bdict This is 30" GE drop in range. I want to replace the switch for right front burner. I removed the two small screws from the long piece that appears to cover all the switches. But there is still another metal part over all the switches. How do I remove this to access the one switch for rf burner?
Answer Joe, you will need to remove the control panel/console. Remove power to the range, raise the cooktop, and position it in the up position with the cooktop support rod. Remove the two screws that secure the console to the end caps, remove the screws that secure the control panel cover to the console. Open the oven door, remove the two screws that secure the bottom of the console to the end caps, then remove the screws that secure the bottom burner box extension from the oven frame. Grasp the control panel/console pull it out towards you9slowly, so you don't disconnect any of the wires, sounds like you've already removed the infinite switch mounting screws) remove the wires from the original switch and attach them to the corresponding terminals on the new switch(one at a time is easiest and best). then reverse the procedure and test the range for operation.
