Johnp for Model Number 10657066600

I've noticed recently that one of the relays in our refrigerator clicks, at which point one of the motors/fans changes speed. About twenty seconds later a relay clicks again at which point the motor/fan will change speeds again. We haven't noticed much change in the ability of the refrigerator or freezer to cool but I fear this is a failing part and want to replace it before it fails completely. Any thoughts as to what needs replacing? I'm thinking it's something along the lines of a start relay and overload but I would like to be somewhat certain before I start throwing parts at it.

Answer

John, You will want to try to determine the area that the click is coming from. It does sound like a start relay that may be going out. Also check to make sure that the condenser fan in the back of the unit is running as it can cause the start relay to go out if the fan is not running. The only other component that could cause this would be the defrost control board.
