The Compressor Start Device is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. It is responsible for starting the compressor, which is crucial for the refrigeration cycle. You should replace the compressor start device if it becomes faulty. Causes of a bad start device can include electrical failures, wear and tear from regular use, or damage from power surges. A malfunctioning start device can prevent the compressor from starting, leading to cooling issues in the refrigerator.

Symptoms of a bad compressor start device include:

  • The refrigerator not cooling properly or at all
  • The compressor not running or making a clicking sound as it tries to start
  • Unusual noises coming from the compressor area
  • The refrigerator cycling on and off frequently

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.
