Michael for Model Number kenmore 596.50692000 my ice maker is leaking from the plastic tube at the point where it connects to the "air block gasket" which then goes into the back of the freezer compartment. This air block is no longer available, so I can't replace it. Is there any other type of component (maybe from another model fridge) that I can rig up to help me get water into the ice maker with no leaks. Or is there a creative way to seal the leaky joint where the plastic tube enters the air block (caulk, adhesive)?
Answer Hello Michael, This connection is not designed to hold water pressure, only to divert water flow. For this reason, I am assuming that yours is frozen. This is possible since the ice in the fill tube will often fill with clear ice. You may not be able to see it but sticking a straw in it will show you that ice is present. Use a hair dryer to clear the tube and the fill tube connection will not leak. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, November 25, 2013
