Scott for Model Number SF357PEKQ0 When I open my oven door partially, I smell gas towards the top opening. I removed the oven door, baffle burner plate, and oven flame spreader. I smelled around it and the smell seems to trace back to the oven bake burner, which I removed. This leads me to think that the gas valve (Part Number AP5306380) is leaking gas since this is what supplies the oven bake burner. 1st Question: Is it okay to apply a small amount of dishwashing liquid to the tube tip that points to the sky to see if it leaks, or will this create more problems? 2nd question: Is the gas valve (Part Number AP5306380) a common source for the gas leak symptom that I described?
Answer Hello Scott. There is a gas leak detector that most gas companies recommends you use for gas. However, based on the information you provided it does sound like the gas valve is the issue. Although not, common, if a unit does leak into the oven, it is usually the gas valve causing the leak. Thanks. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Thursday, January 2, 2014
