Answer Chuck, In the event of a power outage, YES, the cooktop gas burners can be lit with a match, but you have to be careful, you may prefer to use a grille or barbeque lighter. Unfortunately, the oven burner wont light or cycle without electrical power to the igniter and safety valve. We don't see how a battery operated spark ignition system would be effective or conducive to the situation. The cost and engineering could be pretty restrictive. Read More...
