Joe for Model Number Amana ARS2667AS

I have slow water running out of the water dispenser when activated. Very slow. Also seems the ice maker is not producing good ice cubes from the low water volume. I replaced both the primary water pump which when the hose is disconnected, pumps water and has a great flow. I tested that. I also replaced AP6005462 (WP12544001) secondary. Only the blue side seems to pump water when you disconnect the hoses and check it. Not both hoses. It's brand new. I also connected everything and did the front hose at the bottom of the freezer door check by disconnecting. Nothing came out there either. The filter was replaced and not used much as we didn't use the house a lot. I will be replacing that with a new one, but any ideas why the primary pump is doing well to pump but door is slow drip? Also is it normal for one side of the secondary pump to check with water flow and the other not when using door dispenser? I assume one side of the secondary goes to the ice maker and one to the door water dispenser? Both pumps bought from your site and brand new. The fact that I got some weak clear but weak ice cubes leads me to believe not enough water flow and not clogged lines. Not sure how to check all the lines.

Answer

Joe, the blue solenoid would be specific to the water dispenser while the brown one would only activate when the ice maker calls for water. As the blue solenoid passed water through properly at the valve itself, it is very likely that the water line in the door has frozen up along with the possibility of the ice maker line possibly having a partial clog at the fill tube exit (or air has not been fully evacuated from changing out the valves). A towel heated in a dryer can be used to warm up the tubing in the freezer door by placing the heated towel on the inner liner.
