Manufacturer Part Number: WPW10144820

Water inlet valve assembly includes: Hot and cold inlet valves, thermistor, vacuum break and wiring harness.

The Water Inlet Valve Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines, designed to control the flow of hot and cold water into the washer. This component ensures that water enters the washing machine at the correct times during the wash cycle, filling the tub to the appropriate levels for efficient cleaning.

Causes for a Water Inlet Valve Assembly to fail include sediment buildup from hard water, which can block the valves, wear and tear on the solenoids over time, and electrical failures that prevent the valves from opening or closing properly.

Symptoms of a bad Water Inlet Valve Assembly include:

  • The washing machine does not fill with water, or it fills very slowly.
  • Water continues to drip into the tub even when the washer is off
  • The washer fills with the wrong temperature of water

This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Melanie for Model Number Admiral ATW4475XQ0

Washer problem - I only have a cold water line for the washer. Washer is 3 months old. Cold water will not fill. If I fill water with water hose it washes, it does do refills for the rinse and spin, complete cycle, just no initial fill. Not sure based on the Q&A if it is the water valve or the pressure valve? I do hear a very faint hum when I turn it on to fill, just no water. I have the hot water inlet capped off in the back. Tried to switch hose to that, and water does come out but slower. Please help, can't wait for the repair man.

Answer

Hello Melanie. Make sure the unit is set to cold water fill. If so, test for power to the water valve for the cold water. If there is power there, and no cold water enters, you will need to replace the valve WPW10144820. Make sure there is water coming from the water hose to the water valve and the screens are not clogged. Hope this helps.
