This cold water inlet valve is the solenoid-operated valve that opens to let cold water into your washer during fill and closes to stop flow. Replacing it restores proper fill speed and helps prevent off-cycle drips.

  • Regulates cold-side water flow into the washer during fill and rinse cycles
  • Opens when energized by the control; closes to stop water between cycles
  • Common signs of failure: no cold fill, slow fill, or dripping into the tub
  • May trigger fill/temperature errors or cause a loud hum with little/no water flow
What's included: 1 cold water inlet valve Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and shut off the household water supply before servicing
  • Place a towel or pan to catch residual water and relieve line pressure
  • Label and transfer hoses and wire connectors one-for-one to the new valve
  • Inspect/clean inlet screens and flush lines; check for leaks after a test fill

Answer

Hello Mike, Normally if a valve fails, it will be the cold water valve. The reason is that the mineral deposits and sedimentation on the hot side usually stay in the water heater so it's relatively protected. The cold water valve, on the other hand, has all of the sedimentation and mineral deposits go directly through it. The way to tell if the valve is bad is simple. Start the washer filling with cold water and unplug the washer. If the water continues to fill the machine, the valve has failed and will require replacement. If the water stops, it's usually the pressure switch. Let us know if we can provide any more assistance.
