By: Whirlpool
Part Number: OEM18030201
Manufacturer Part Number: WP61005627

This 115V water valve controls water flow through the refrigerator filter assembly so ice and the dispenser get clean, pressurized water when needed. Replaces a failed valve to restore normal water delivery and stop unwanted leaks. What it does:

  • Opens and closes the water supply to the refrigerator filter when the dispenser or ice maker calls for water
  • Restores water flow if the dispenser or ice maker has little or no water
  • Stops internal leaks when a faulty valve is the source of seepage or continuous water flow
  • Operates on a 115V electrical feed used by the filter valve circuit
What's included:
  • One 115V water valve for the filter assembly
Install notes:
  • Disconnect refrigerator power and shut off the water supply before beginning
  • Relieve water pressure and have a towel handy for residual water in lines
  • Verify valve electrical connections and tubing fittings are secure and properly seated
  • Test for leaks and proper operation after installation; follow factory service instructions for detailed steps

Answer

Hello Jan, If the ice maker D7824706Q hasn't got a set of contacts sticking causing an overfill, the issue will have to be either low water pressure to the water valve or a bad water valve. The water valve part number are dependent on the series number. The series number is actually the first two numbers of the serial number. If the serial number starts with a 10 or below, the two water valves are 12001892, and 61005626. If the serial number begins with 11 or higher, the water valve part numbers are WP61005627, and 61005626. You should check first to make sure the water is turned all the way on to the unit and the water line isn't crimped. It also isn't a bad idea to remove the water line from the back of the unit and place it in a plastic trash can or bucket and turn the water on to insure proper water pressure. If the water pressure is insufficient, since the water pressure is what closes the water valve, the valve will close too slowly and overfill the ice maker.
