This 115V water valve controls water flow through the refrigerator filter assembly so ice and the dispenser get clean, pressurized water when needed. Replaces a failed valve to restore normal water delivery and stop unwanted leaks. What it does:

  • Opens and closes the water supply to the refrigerator filter when the dispenser or ice maker calls for water
  • Restores water flow if the dispenser or ice maker has little or no water
  • Stops internal leaks when a faulty valve is the source of seepage or continuous water flow
  • Operates on a 115V electrical feed used by the filter valve circuit
What's included:
  • One 115V water valve for the filter assembly
Install notes:
  • Disconnect refrigerator power and shut off the water supply before beginning
  • Relieve water pressure and have a towel handy for residual water in lines
  • Verify valve electrical connections and tubing fittings are secure and properly seated
  • Test for leaks and proper operation after installation; follow factory service instructions for detailed steps

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Water Valve (Filter, 115V) (Part Number: OEM18030201)

Hello Dustin, If water is coming out of the door, water has to be in the tank since the water is routed through the tank before it gets to the door. You should check the fill tube to the ice maker for an ice clog. If the fill tube is frozen up, the water valves will require replacement WP61005627 and 61005626.

Frank, You will want to check to make sure that the fill tube is not frozen. If frozen clear ice out of the tube. You will also need to order a water valve due to seeping if the fill tube is frozen.

Hello Linda, The water valve lines cannot be hooked up incorrectly since the lines are different sizes. The most likely cause of this issue is the water tank in the bottom of the fresh food section behind the drawers is frozen. You can thaw it out if this is the issue by removing one or both of the drawers and blowing hot air on the water tank with a hair dryer. This will take about 15 minutes to thaw with a hair dryer set to the high temperature. If this thaws it out, the fresh food section temperature is set too warm. I know it sounds backwards, but in order to stir the air by kicking the fans on more often, the fresh food section will have to be set at least a number colder. The freezer section will need to be adjusted to a warmer setting.

Hello Jan, If the ice maker D7824706Q hasn't got a set of contacts sticking causing an overfill, the issue will have to be either low water pressure to the water valve or a bad water valve. The water valve part number are dependent on the series number. The series number is actually the first two numbers of the serial number. If the serial number starts with a 10 or below, the two water valves are 12001892, and 61005626. If the serial number begins with 11 or higher, the water valve part numbers are WP61005627, and 61005626. You should check first to make sure the water is turned all the way on to the unit and the water line isn't crimped. It also isn't a bad idea to remove the water line from the back of the unit and place it in a plastic trash can or bucket and turn the water on to insure proper water pressure. If the water pressure is insufficient, since the water pressure is what closes the water valve, the valve will close too slowly and overfill the ice maker.

Michael, you're on track. Replacing both valves would be an even better idea 12001892 and 12001892. When they replaced the water shut off, the debris and sediment broke loose and has clogged the solenoid in the valve(s), and they won't equalize properly. You should "flush the water supply tube for a few minutes, before you attach it to the new valve, and then dispense at least a gallon of water through the dispenser, to flush out any residual air or debris, that may be in the water system. Thanks

Hello Edward! It seems that you will need to replace the valve. May we have your appliance serial number to verify the correct part number? Thanks.
