A carburetor may dry up after prolonged periods of inactivity, causing problems starting the engine. If this happens, the carburetor will need to be primed. Priming is adding fuel to the carburetor. Most lawnmowers have a priming bulb so you don't have to pour gas into the carburetor manually. This component is usually a small rubber button, which suctions fuel from the tank. To activate it, simply press it several times. If it fails to draw fuel, then a primer bulb may be needed.
