The flywheel key is the component on outdoor equipment that keeps the flywheel connected to the crankshaft. Make sure the engine is cool before working on the flywheel. Wear safety gear, including gloves and eye protection. Disconnect the spark plug and remove the blower housing. Remove the flywheel mounting nut and set it aside. Take the recoil starter cup off the mower. Use the flywheel puller to remove the flywheel and access the flywheel key.
