How to Troubleshoot & Replace Bosch AP7193108 / 10023852 Water Inlet Valve

A leaky dishwasher that turns off on a Saturday night?? After a little research and some time on the floor looking to locate the leak and I found the culprit, the water inlet valve had failed. I ordered the part and it arrived Tuesday, the dishwasher was fixed in less than an hour for $30. 

The water inlet valve was leaking. Pulled the dishwasher out and replaced the part very easily problem solved 

Replaced water inlet valve. Though fairly straightforward, video of how to saved time in showing which hose to remove first and how to pop out inlet valve holder.

Following diagnostic videos on Youtube, pulled out DW and saw small amt of water in very bottom pan triggering the safety float shut off switch. Removed the water with a sponge, DW came alive and ran a short rinse cycle while keeping watch on the bottom pan area for leaks (i.e. I was lying on the floor). As in the Youtube video, saw water dripping from the "water inlet valve". Ordered one from APP--an original Bosch part that COST A FORTUNE: $20. Arrived the NEXT DAY. It was straightforward and easy to change out. Problem solved; happy wife; and no new $1000 DW. I am 73, "average" handy, and if I can do it....you can too! 

Replaced the water inlet valve. Thank goodness the dishwasher has a flood detection switch that alarmed us of the leak under the washer. 

Shutdown electric and water. Pulled dishwasher out and removed vacuum tube. Removed the water line. Pulled pump bracket from the back of the washer. Removed wire jack from the pump. Took vacuum hose off. Replace pump. Replaced everything in reverse. Job done! 

I took the door panel off (6 screws) and remove the two lower kick plates. Then I removed the 2 screws that anchor the top of the dishwasher to the underside of the countertop. Next, I lowered the adjustable leveling feet so I could pull the machine out from under the counter. I removed the sound insulation so I could view the float and the bottom hoses and valves. There was water on the floor of the machine and in the float well. The flood-prevention device had done it job. As I observed the hoses and valves, I could see that the water inlet valve was leaking, so I ordered that part. While waiting for it to arrive, I dried out the floor and well of the dishwasher -- and then waited, and waited and waited. Replacing the valve was simple: disconnect the water and electrical lines on the defective valve and attach them to the new one. And then reassemble the machine in reverse order of the disassembly. 

Researched what the code was. Watched permanent fix tutorial. Removed panel and found source of the leak was a faulty fill valve. Watched tutorial on how to remove and replace. Ordered the part according to model number and parts search. Installed as instructed. Works great. Hardest part of the job was doing dishes by hand while patiently waiting for the part to come! 

The video made it pretty easy and had some useful hacks, like putting a block of wood under the washer to make it easier to get at the part and using soap to put the hose on. Only issue for me was getting the water supply hose off the way the video shows. It was really tight, so I removed it from the valve where I was able to get leverage on it.
