How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP7215767 / 5304535382 Basket Assembly

Replaced silverware basket 

At first, all I wanted was the drain hose. I could not find a drain hose by itself, I needed to order a full air brake and drain hose kit. I thought I could use the drain hose and keep the air brake for the future. When the kit arrived, it looked nothing like the hose/brake assembly on the dishwasher. With the help of appliance parts pros staff, I discovered the hose/brake assembly was completely and profoundly re-designed; I needed to remove both old parts and install the new air brake and drain hose supplied in the kit. I found a YouTube video on installing the new parts that showed me which tube was hooked to which port on the air brake. Following the video instructions, I installed the new parts in less than an hour and had the dishwasher running like new. The only change I made was to use stainless steel clamps on the hoses to control the pressure placed on rubber/plastic connections. 

Replaced the hose to fix the minor problem, but was unable to fix the major problem that was unknown in the beginning, which was a hole in the washer made by the heating element. 

Searched online and found APP had the cheapest price. With tax and shipping still beat all other. Had my the basket within 24 hours. Great job! 

We replaced the baket. 

Pretty easy fix for the gasket. Put on some rubber gloves. Pull out the old gasket (it just sits in there by friction). Stretch the new one out per another commenter. Push the new one into the groove. I folded mine in half and started from that point at the top middle to get it as close to even on both sides as possible. It still was a little longer on one side due to differences in how i pulled while putting the new one in. So far no leaks though. Thankfully I did not have to mess with the part at the bottom of the door. As for the cutlery basket, my original one was the 3 piece unit with a slotted lid in the middle. The new one is a one piece unit with slotted lids on each end. The new one is smaller. which is fine as it actually does a better job of getting the cutlery clean. 

Went to Appliance Parts Pros and entered the model number (Frigidaire) and the original equipment rack was in stock. Ordered the rack along with the removable silverware basket and it arrived the next day! Amazing! 

Ordered new silverware basket. I was very pleasantly surprised at the speed with which my order was received. 

Ordered replacement 

When I called I talked to a woman somewhere in East Tennessee. I am 87 years old with a 22 year old dishwasher that needed a silverware basket badly. I described the basket I had and within a matter of a few minutes she knew just what I needed. I got the basket the next day and it’s perfect. I didn’t get her name but I would like to thank her for her kindness and patience.
