How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP5325431 / 242044008 Defrost Heater

After 10 years, the Start Device Part # AP4393517, attached to the compressor failed. I replaced it with the similar part, but not factory original and not sure if it is new from an appliance store nearby. By not being sure how long this part will last, I decided to order this part and the other parts from you, just to be on the safe side. I replaced the part myself. It was not easy to get down to the floor and a little cumbersome to remove the part because it is attached very hard to the compressor. 

I noticed when unit was actually working there was frost on the rear wall of freezer. I went ahead and replaced the defrost timer, defrost thermostat and heater. Unit works really well now. All the parts are very easy to access and replace. 

Defroster thermostat. Easiest repair yet on one of my refrigerators. Part was perfect! 

Ordered and replaced the defrost heater. 

Replaced the defrost thermostat in freezer and fridge and the defrost heater in freezer. These guys had my parts in stock and I got them in 2 days 

Replaced heating element and thermostat. Took less than 1 hour to complete. Note that you will need a heat gun to shrink the waterproof sleeve over the electrical butt connectors. 

Replacement. 

Ordered defrost heater. I do not have experience but with your DYI video I replaced part in 15 minutes. 

I purchased a new defrost heater installed it in about 10 minutes now fridge is cooling. 

I replaced the defrost thermostat, defrost heater, and defrost timer all three parts were replaced.
