How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP3160597 / 5303918277 Replacement Icemaker

Replaced the ice maker. It was easier than doing an oil change on any vehicle made since 1990. 

Replace with new parts. 

Replaced the valve and ice maker and now everything is fine 

I watched the videos on both the parts and it seemed easy enough. I ordered and replaced both parts easily. When it still didn't work, I called the tech support line and I think we decided that when the water filter needs changing it stops making ice....and since I have a whole house water purifying system the tech suggested the blank cartridge for that filter space (filter bypass). I ordered it and now I have tons of ice...yippee. I kept in the new parts rather that try to figure out the more complicated possibilities. I'm happy. I have ice and I don't want to deal with it anymore. The videos are wonderfully thorough and easy. It took a little longer than I expected b/c after replacing those two parts, the water wasn't flowing in so I had to do a bunch of stuff on the water line and spigot to see if the problem was there..the easiest part was replacing the ice maker and water valve..and the BONUS??? I vacuumed and mopped behind the fridge! hk 

I typed in my model number on your website and it had a how-to video. I looked at that and said to myself, I think I can do that. So, ordered the replacement icemaker (It was on sale, so that helped). Reviewed the video and took me about an hour. Was not sure it was working until the sweet sound of ice hitting the pan. What a great sound. Thanks for the video. 

Replaced with new ice maker..

Replaced ice marker, and ice bin and drive bar 

I ordered the replacement part and received it the next day which shocked me. The instruction video made the task easy and had the old part removed and replaced in fifteen minutes and making ice in a few hours. 

The web site gave instructions as to how to change the ice maker, however I have done it so many times that a short cut discovered helped a lot. The web sit suggest to find and remove the two screws that secure the ice maker to the freezer I found that you only need to loosen them and lift up on the ice maker to remove it then you can un-plug it and remove it from the freezer to install the new one in reverse. Don't forget to re-tighten the two screws. The only tool needed is a 1/4 in nut driver
