How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP3160597 / 5303918277 Replacement Icemaker

First, I watched the demonstration video covering the removal and installation of the ice maker on the AppliancePartsPros website. That was extremely helpful. Using a nut driver I was able to remove the old ice maker and install the new replacement ice maker. A small handheld mirror was helpful to locate the ice maker mounting points. Access was tight but manageable. 

I had chunks of ice building up inside the storage bin and on the back wall behind the ice maker. I ordered a replacement and got the wrong one which I had to send back. After I got the correct one the repair took only a matter of a few minutes. Now all is well and I don't have to buy a new refrigerator/freezer! 

Replaced icemaker with AppliancePartsPros.com icemaker replacement. I had a socket wrench but you still have to do it blindly - taking off and putting on. I had to take the screws almost all of the way out to get the icemaker off. Putting on was much easier with the screws backed out the minimal amount before mounting the new icemaker. I did not need the wire tail parts that they provided. I was relieved to hear the satisfying sounds of 1. Water filling the bucket 2. Ice plopping down into the container. lol

Determined that old unit had broken plastic teeth in cogs on motor. 

I watched your helpful videos on how to install each part that I had ordered. I followed them step by step. Very good instructions!! 

Replaced icemaker. The how-to video was very helpful. The fit against the water-dispensing tube was very tight, which made it a bit challenging to get the icemaker to fit over the mounting screws, but the repair was straightforward and the new icemaker is cranking out ice cubes.
