Erica E Memphis , TN May 23, 2022 Appliance: General Electric Dishwasher GSM1800J00BB Detergent dispenser wasn't latching. I ordered the replacement part and pulled up the service manual online. Always unplug your appliance to make any repairs. Using a drill with a phillips head screw bit, I removed the front of the dishwasher by unscrewing the six lower screws from the inside of the door. There is a styrofoam cover to minimize noise, keep that with the door and screws. The detergent assembly was visible at this point. There were two wires to pull off the detergent assembly. You just note which color goes in front and which one back and then pull the them off by the attached tab. The detergent assembly is attached with 4 screws. You just remove them and the brackets come off. It's free to be removed. Insert the new detergent dispenser reattach the brackets to the new part with the same screws. Reattach the 2 wires. Put the styrofoam cover and front back on, reattaching using the same 6 screws removed earlier. Plug back in and fire it up to see if your repair worked! Read More...
