How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3884348 / WR60X10205 Refrigerator Evaporator Fan Blade

Opened up the back of the freezer compartment to locate the evaporator fan motor. It was determined that the fan blade was unbalanced due to the fact that it had been hitting the wiring and had worn off part of the blades. The Grommets looked a little worn also. As a side note, I had to replace the fan motor as well. Totally surprised, ordered parts on Nov.10 and received parts on Nov. 11 

Ultimately I had to replace the fan. I initially thought the problem was that the blade was out of balance, but the shaft on the motor had come loose and had to be replaced with another purchase. This was no fault of the purchase I made and I went ahead and used the new fan blade. Now the refrigerator is working very well. The videos were a definite help, as well as the prices being cheaper than anywhere else I saw. Delivery was VERY fast, as it came the next day on a two day shipping order. I will definitely use AppliancePartsPro.com the next time I need to repair an appliance, which will probably be soon given the age of my house. One last point: the biggest problem I had was diagnosing the problem. Eventually I figured it out reading the Q/A online for some of the parts. 

Replaced fan, thermistor, and temp sensors! 

Verified power to the motor, then I replaced the faulty motor. I also had to defrost the freezer shutter door. 

Problem was grommet which is no longer blue and has be redesigned, It is now grey in color and looks more robust. I opted to replace the fan motor, blade and both grommets, but it was pretty apparent the front blue grommet was the problem. 

I first changed the main control board and de-iced the evaporator coils. It helped on some of the issues but the evaporator iced up in a few weeks again, so I retrofitted a timer and relay device to keep the evaporator coil clear of ice build up. That controlled that problem but the noisy fan and frost build up in the freezer compartment itself continued, so then I put in a new evaporator fan assembly and that has cleared up the rest of the issues. I suspect that I could probably remove my retrofitted defrosting device and hook it up to the original configuration and it would probably stay defrosted. Thank for this users forum, it helped steer me in the right direction!

Replaced the fan. 

Freezer compartment was silent - evaporator fan was not running. Pulled controller board and checked solder joints because of previous problems. Board okay. Used freezer compartment drawing to disassemble freezer. Pulled fan assembly. Bench-checked fan with power supply. Fan motor non-functional. Replaced fan motor and reassembled freezer. Fan was too noisy for kitchen. Replaced fan blade. Removed dust from condenser coil underneath fridge. Made a foam air filter and attached to rear air-inlet grating with 5 tie wraps. Replaced 3 40-watt incandescent bulbs with 5-watt LED bulbs. Refrigerator is running better than new. 

We ordered a new fan motor and fan blade assembly. We watched the how to video and put it in. We ordered it one day and got it the next day. Totally pleased with Appliance Parts Pros. Will absolutely use them again when I need a part.
