How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP7188100 / WR55X10942C Refrigerator Main Control Board

I manually defrosted the coil. Checked the defrost heater for continuity. The only thing left that could be the problem was the control board. I ordered and replaced the board. Because I have a bottom freezer, I had to cut some wires as per attached instructions. On my fridge, I did have a capacitor that was different from the instruction sheet. The capacitor was attached to the fridge, not to the power cord as pictured. I did remove the ground wire. Everything is working great.

Replacement motherboard. Used dental scaler to assist prying electrical connectors from control board. 

I went and google my problem with my GE refrigerator and Appliance Part Pros pop up and gave me information which in turn narrowed it down to the Main Control Board. I was really afraid to purchase it and find out that was not the problem. Went for the gusto, put it in and the Ice started coming back out. Was I relived to have it repaired. Closing on home. Since most of the people who had fans that didn't work ended up replacing the Control Board, I chose to replace that. The board installed very easily and the fan is now working. 

Replaced sensor, thermostadt, and heater. No change in function, so concluded it was the main board at fault. When removing the main board, noticed it had a small 'burned out' looking area, which was likely the source of the problem. Replaced main board, and so far, things are working like new! 

Replaced Main Circuit board. Took 5 minutes and everything works now. 

On line search suggested the main control board as the problem. I found replacement board at AppliancePartsPros. Watching the video convinced me that this was a reasonable thing for me to do. The result was a quick fix. Part arrived in less than 2 days, and repair took about 30 minutes, including a call to APP to check small difference between new board and old. 

Ordered the part. Read instructions and installed. 

Finally discovered the water line kit and installed it.
