How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3414570 / WR02X10540 Lid Bumper

Replaced fan 

Condenser fan motor sounded like a dying animal. Ordered a new motor, fan blade and grommets. The fridge sounds so much better, it's hard to tell it's on. Took 20 minutes, most of it cleaning. 

Replaced the motor and fan. 

Monitored the fan activity, ordered and installed a replacement fan motor. The Installation was straight forward and solved the problem. Part delivery was 1 1/2 days. 

Replaced fan, thermistor, and temp sensors! 

WE REPLACED THE FAN MOTOR, FAN, MOUNTING BRACKETS, AND GROMMETS. 

Replaced the evaporator fan blade and motor. If you purchase the fan blade you do not need to purchase a compression ring as the blade comes with a compression ring. May not need to replace the bumpers or grommets but since my fan was unbalanced I replaced them in case they were worn. 

The refrigerator is about 20 years old. Ice on the cooling coils in the freezer. The fan would run then the next time it would make a noise. We were going to replace the bushings but decided to replace all of it. I really like this company. Good luck for anybody on their repairs. I would use this company again 

I replaced the Grommets on the “top” motor bracket. The parts diagram for my model only shows one but there is both top and bottom grommet. Only ones I ordered so replaced the top one as it appeared more worn out. Did not need the small bumper (different part) as it doesn’t seem to make contact with the motor. Note: replaced the motor and fan one year ago, the original was 17 years. It would have been good to know this was potentially wearing out but I did not think to look at it …and it didn’t make a noise then …. Would have prevented this second repair. Still, easy fix. 

I received the parts but haven't put them in yet I like to let them sleep before I make a mess cleaning out the freezer, but the new motor should solve the problem. Other parts were bought in case of some break while removing the motor.
