How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP6332922 / WR87X29409 Compressor Inverter Board

After an appliance repair company wanted to charge me $1100 and told me it would take three weeks to get the part, I watched a you tube video of how to fix it (inverter) and ordered the part from Appliancepartpros. I got the part the next day, followed the steps in the video and fixed it myself. I was so relieved not to have to buy a new refrigerator because I really like the one I have. It was tricky to get the old part out and new one in because there were copper tubes blocking the acces to that spot but I got it done with a few expletives about bad engineering design! 

Removed and replaced Compressor control board. 

YouTube videos to help diagnose, with the tools at home. Once I knew the part I needed. One of the best videos for step by step was from .AppliancePartsPros.com. So I just purchased that part that was being shown and this took the guess work out of that part of the process. It was great and it worked like a charm. 

Installed the compressor inverter board. The video was an excellent resource. Worked perfectly, easy to repair.

I replaced the Inverter Board. 

I could hear the fans running but not the compressor. I checked for AC power (used a Digital voltmeter) to the compressor invertor and for a DC control signal, both were present. I also checked the compressor motor windings for correct resistance and that it was not shorted to the ground, all looked good. I ordered a replacement compressor inverter, installed the replacement, and tested it for compressor operation. All checked out good, I now have a working refrigerator again. Replaced the compressor inverter- after testing the compressor with a multimeter and confirming it was good. Compressor should be warm or slightly hot mine was cold. Replaced Part #: AP6332922 (WR87X29409)
