How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3994965 / WH01X10310 Control Knob Assembly

I watched the how to video provided on the Control Knob page. Popped old knob off, popped new one on. It was that easy. Make sure you have the model # right for your appliance, I almost ordered the wrong one! 

Ordered new knob with clip. Took my grandson two minutes to replace knob. Worked perfectly once replaced. 

I wasn't going to fix it, just use pliers but I checked out a replacement anyway. After seeing the price and watching an installation video on the net, I ordered it. My old knob was already off so I only had to snap it on. Easy, breezy, no tools and 2 seconds.

Our washer knob would spin without turning to the setting. I ordered a new knob and timer dial since I was not sure if I needed both and replaced them both. Turns out the knob teeth that turned the dial, were worn all the way down. My husband and I had it switched out in about 1 minute and it worked perfectly! 

I did some research online and found there are several knobs with the same part number. During this process I went to appliance parts pros and they asked me to include the washer model number. That was it! The instructional video clearly showed that the part was correct and also indicated the simple process to install it (I already knew it: pull the tab out, remove the old knob and push the new knob in). 

I called and explained the problem to the customer service person and told her what I needed. She asked for a picture of the part I removed from the washer. I have my new and correct part and all is well. I highly recommend Appliance Parts. They are the best! Professional, courteous and easy to work with. 

Replaced with a new one, that had better teeth to engage the selector. I had to use a small screwdriver to release a small retainer clip, and then needlenose pliers to push it back on the new one.
