How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3994965 / WH01X10310 Washer Timer Control Knob Assembly

New part really worked. 

Initially purchased a knob, but noticed after installation the timer would still not move. I watched the video on timer replacement and realized how easy it was to replace. Ordered and replaced the timer exactly the way the video said. 

New knob, very simple to remove the old one and install the new one. Thanks!

My GE top load washer timer control stopped working the knob would just free spin it wouldn't engage to set a wash cycle. After assuming that the timer control had gone bad I took to YouTube to see how difficult the repair would be, after watching a few videos I was lead to check the control knob first. What do you know it was the knob and not the timer. $9, two days shipping, A pair of needle nosed plyers and we were back in business! 

When the timer dial and control knob assembly arrived, I got a pair of needle nose pliars and pulled the pin that holds them together on the machine. Once the old ones were off, the new ones were installed simply by pushing them in place. It was very simple, and the parts were great.
