How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3994965 / WH01X10310 Control Knob Assembly

I replaced knob assembly. The plastic clip was difficult to get to with needle nose pliers so I used a mini hook to remove it. Reassembly simply required pushing the knob on and reinserting the clip. However, be very careful about how hard you push when working with the knob. The timer module is attached to the backsplash (control panel) by 2 small plastic notches and a single screw. One of the plastics notches broke and the timer module was just flopping around. I had to improvise to reattach the module to the backsplash because a replacement backsplash is about $120.

I followed the YouTube video in the comments and my washing machine was fixed in less than 5 minutes. 

Replace the Timer Dial and a Control Knob. 

Put on a new knob. 

Ordered new knob. Removed the old one vacuumed out the teeth that broke off from 1st knob, replaced with new knob. 

Installed replacement. 

Removed the old knob and pushed on the new knob I watched the video that AppliancePartsPros.com had on the website to let me know how to do it. They showed how easy it was to remove the old one and install the new one. Will use their service again.
