How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP6802078 / WD19X24829 Drain Pump Kit

Shut off power to the dishwasher. Disconnected AC power line. Pulled out the dishwasher. Turned it on it's side. Replaced drain pump. Re-installed dishwasher. Straight forward repair. 

Replaced the drain pump that was destroyed by broken glass.

I used the diagnostic mode to determine that it was actually the pump. Ordered the part. Once it arrived visually verified the pump. Turned the water and electricity off to the unit. Disconnected the wires, water line, and drain. Pump fit perfectly, then reinstalled in reverse order. Before final installation I ran the diagnostic again and it worked. 

Removed and replace the drain pump. 

Purchased a new pump, and installed it, which took less than an hour, mainly because I didn’t remove the dishwasher. I just pulled it out a few inches and raised the front about two inches so I could get my hands under it. Everything went smoothly and the dishwasher is working perfectly. I disassembled the old pump, which was very simple. And I found a piece of broken glass stuck in the impeller. The glass was about the size of a dime. Reassembled and the old pump still works. I am guessing this could be a common problem with debris getting wedged in the pump, just because it was so simple to disassemble the pump.
