How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2044592 / WH1X2026 Drive Belt

Replaced the drive belt. 

Video for belt replacement was right on. 

I ordered parts based on the troubleshooting suggestions provided by Appliance Parts Pros and disassembled the washing machine according to their online instruction video. The video was very specific to my machine model number and was clear and concise. Once disassembled, I ordered additional parts to replace corroded hardware. After reassembly, the spin cycle still seems noisy but I've determined it's not bearing related and is probably due to air noise from the agitator. I feel with the new parts, the machine will last a bit longer than it would have otherwise. Ordering parts was easy and they arrived within a couple of days. I highly recommend Appliance Parts Pros. 

I ordered the replacement belt and cleaned out the area. Loosened the motor mounts, installed the new belt tightened the motor, reset the appliance and then ran through several spin only cycles and then 2 full wash cycles. Tightened belt again and it works fine now. 

Tightened the belt, but that didn’t help. Popped the agitator off and saw that the inner basket hub had disintegrated. Ordered a new hub, nut, spring ring, and belt. I have the ultimate set of tools so I didn’t buy the spanner wrench. I did have to cut the frozen hub nut off, other than that, everything went smoothly. The videos were very helpful. The parts arrived the day after I ordered them. I also took some time to clean 20 years of machismo off of the inner and outer baskets. $80 in parts vs a new $300 machine. I should get another 10 years out of this machine. 

Your video was most helpful. It showed me exactly what to do. I was able to put the new belt on in about 20 minutes. 

Ordered a new coupler after reading online, but then I discovered that the bad overload/imbalance had shaken the lid sensor completely out of its bracket. I moved the bracket back in place and everything worked. I left the new coupler in there anyway since I had already changed it. 

I took one of the methods shown by the appliance pro's for re-installation of the belt that didn't work to good but I got the belt on . Works good. 

Easy once machine was turned on its side, 3 bolts loosen and belt was of. 15 minute job. 

Received new belt from AppliancePartsPros.com. Watched video. Installed part. Tested successfully.
