Ed G South Orange , NJ June 10, 2016 Appliance: General Electric Free Standing Microwave JVM1860SF001 Vent door broke and fell off black plastic support piece was the broken part and needed to be replaced I was able to make the repair myself. Be certain to understand how it all fits together before taking apart the old one. I took a few phone photos and that helped. The black part should be assembled with the facing piece before mounting on the Microwave unit. I ended up re-attaching the springs when it was in place. I found the that the facing piece was pretty greasy so I did some detailing on that before I put it back. That led to my only problem which was that I scratched the front of the facing piece a bit because I did not protect it from the table. A dish towel underneath would have made a difference. The abrasion scratch is not horrible but is noticeable. One other note is that the screws on top that hold the assembly in place join slightly differently than the original. In the replacement the screws are set into the plastic directly. In the original there were metal clips that the screws fit into. The new one works fine. The original unit is 13 years old, so if the replacement holds that long it will be OK. John R Carrollton , GA October 11, 2020 Appliance: General Electric Free Standing Microwave JVM1861SD002 Turntable turns but makes a grinding noise Replaced the drive motor on my GE above stove microwave. Took about 7 or 8 minutes. Works great with no noise now. Really a bad design on GE's part. Moisture from boiling anything on the range top is the issue with the motor going bad. It should be sealed some way to prevent this. Read More... 1 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
