How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP4355961 / WD13X10045 Handle Actuator

Found video on how to repair and found part through diagram on appliance parts pros website so felt confident with moving forward with this repair. 

Replaced broken plastic piece. 

I notices a white plastic pin on the floor in front of the dishwasher. Upon closer inspection, The handle was broken and a spring was sticking out. I disassembled the controls, found the broken part, ordered it and saved all the loose pieces. The part arrived quickly. Assembly: Turned off circuit. Removed dishwasher control panel (6 Phillips screws), Disconnected ribbon cable (wide flat head screwdriver). Placed on level surface. Removed metal handle support and removed plastic handle actuator. Reassembled. Notes: 1) Don't loose the spring! 2) The plastic actuator needs to be manipulated to get it over the opening for the door flap. It clicks into place when correctly inserted. 3) The metal edges are razor sharp when removing and reinserting the ribbon cable. Either fold a light towel over the edge, remove the face panel, or get a tetanus shot... LOL. 

Dw door was locked. Would not open no matter what I tried. I almost gave up on it and got a new DW. Once we pulled it out, we figured out what the problem was. Thank you to youtube! It was the handle actuator and spring. I was able follow the instructions on Youtube, and ordered the new parts. They came in 2 days and I was able to fix the problem ! DW now works perfect. 

I purchased a new handle actuator, online, through AppliancePartsPros.com.. I watched the very informative and easy-to-follow video tutorial and the fix was as simple as tying my shoe. 

Remove front panel from door and very easy to snap new part into place. There's a small spring that didn't seem to fit the part, or I couldn't figure out how to install it. I left it out and it seems to work fine. 

Using your video guided me through the repair. 

Replaced handle and spring with the help of a You Tube video. 

Ordered parts, came in 2 days. Watched the very clear video, followed the steps, fixed in 25 minutes! Thank you. 

Replaced the interlock door switch, I also replaced handle actuator and spring as well.
