I notices a white plastic pin on the floor in front of the dishwasher. Upon closer inspection, The handle was broken and a spring was sticking out. I disassembled the controls, found the broken part, ordered it and saved all the loose pieces. The part arrived quickly.
Assembly: Turned off circuit. Removed dishwasher control panel (6 Phillips screws), Disconnected ribbon cable (wide flat head screwdriver). Placed on level surface. Removed metal handle support and removed plastic handle actuator. Reassembled.
Notes:
1) Don't loose the spring!
2) The plastic actuator needs to be manipulated to get it over the opening for the door flap. It clicks into place when correctly inserted.
3) The metal edges are razor sharp when removing and reinserting the ribbon cable. Either fold a light towel over the edge, remove the face panel, or get a tetanus shot... LOL.
