How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP5949272 / WR12X22148 General Electric Refrigerator/Freezer Door Handle Kit

Watched a UTube video. Called GE who wanted $80+. Wrote down part number. Ordered online from AppliancePartsPros.com, which was $45 including shipping. Part arrived in 2 days. Took off old handle. The only challenge was the bottom screw. Attached new handle. 

Went to AppliancePartsPros.com. I wasn't sure of the part number so I did a live chat with Kelsey and was assured the part number I was looking at was correct and even processed my order. Because the distribution center is in my state the part arrived in 24 hours even though I ordered standard shipping. The part was an exact match to my broken handle and it didn't take but a few minutes to install it. The price was good the service excellent and delivery fast. 

Took about 5 min to replace the handle with the parts ordered. Thank you for the fast service. 

The parts were easy to located on your site, ordering was easy, and delivery was as promised. This is probably a design issue with GE, (why they discoed this part) but who would expect them to step up to the plate and take responsibility. This was an easy fix. Note: the screw on the bottom of the FF door handle requires a Torx screw driver. 

Replacing handle was simple with Torx T25 tip and a Phillips screwdriver. 

Easy repair, take four screws out and reinstalled new handle. Handles came in three days after ordering. Only tools I used was one torx tool and number 2 cross tip screw driver. Remember it's a plastic handle so don't over tighten the screws. 

After retrieving the model number from the refrigerator, I researched using GE model # and specified handle. Unfortunately they were packaged as a set (freezer & refrig) but we may need the other handle in future. Was a simple process......unscrewed & removed the broken handle.....used the same screws to attach the new handle....less than 10 minutes. My name is Judi.......I'm 73 years old and ordered on behalf of my employer. The lawyers I work with were anticipating that I'd need them to assist with the removal and/or replacement....NOPE. Super easy!!! 

I replaced it with your parts. I only needed one handle and doubt that my fridge will last long enough to use the other handle that came. It would have been cost effective if you could sell one handle at a time. I am very happy with the service. My order was processed quickly and arrived way before I thought it would. 

Easy fix with the door handle replacement parts. 

Removed the three mounting screws, threw out the old Handle and ordered and installed a new one.
