Mark P Waterford , MI December 29, 2014 Ge profile dishwasher door not staying up must be a spring issue After watching the video on Appliance Parts Pro I understood what to look for. Took off the toe kick and determined it was the plastic part that holds spring onto door. Only one side was broken but still allowed the door to slam to the floor if not held onto. Ordered parts and tracked them which arrived on Christmas eve which was great because we had many guests over on Christmas. The repair was straight forward and easy. Needed to pull the dishwasher rout to make sure spring is attached to the correct hole. After reinstalling I noticed that when there is a load on the door when open it clicks down past horizontal so it must have damaged the hinge when the door hit the floor several times. Make sure you check this before you reinstall the dish washer. I will need to pull it back out to investigate the damage.
