How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP4321616 / WR30X10097 Icemaker Assy

Replaced the ice maker and it worked. Relatively simple but instructions would have been nice. Use a Phillips head screw driver to remove the single screw that holds the wiring cover plate in place, slide cover plate off (there’s a couple of tabs along the bottom), trace the wiring harness to the ice maker and unplug it (there’s 2 harnesses so look first before randomly unplugging), look at how the wiring routes to the ice maker then remove the ice maker by pressing down the tab and pulling out the unit. Reverse the process to replace - unit first, then plug in, then cover plate. It takes a bit of time before you start getting ice. 

The ice dispensing system continued to work. I had put ice in it from an old icemaker in my garage refrigerator. I knew it had to be the part where water was accepted and frozen and then dumped into the dispenser. I then went to AppliancePartsPros.com with my refrigerator model number and found the exploded diagram which showed the part. I looked up the part. The part was $200. Less expensive parts were available from other suppliers but they were not original equipment manufactured. The part arrived in just a couple of business days. I immediately went to the refrigerator and removed the old part. It was pretty easy to remove it, and it required only a single screw holding the wiring harness to be unscrewed. It took less than 15 minutes to replace the part. Within two hours the icemaker was making ice. I dumped out the first batch of ice and have been using it ever since. 

The solution was to replace the ice maker. This model was a slide-in version. Unplugged the refrigerator, and remove the side panel where the plug was. I Unplugged the ice maker and slid it out. Slide the new ice maker in, plug it in and replace the panel. The only gotcha was cable ended up behind the ice maker and it would not seat right. Once I figured that out and rerouted the cable, done in 2 minutes. 

We replaced the ice maker unit. It took my husband longer to view the YouTube video and unpack the unit than it did to install it and begin making ice. Excellent instructions and easy repair did the trick. Thank you!

After seeing the ice maker bucket was cracking in several places I ordered the new one as well as the ice maker module. It was pretty easy to replace needing only a screwdriver. The only problem I ran into was figuring out the refrigerator needed to be reset in order for the ice maker to start working.

GE came out and was going to replace ice maker. Didn’t have the part! When I saw how easy to replace it, I ordered the ice maker and replaced it myself.
