How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP4309184 / WE4M398 Inlet Control Thermistor

GE Gas Dryer Model DBVH512GF1WW began to heat for only a short amount of time so drying clothes took WAY too long. Read online that the first thing to replace are the solenoids. Bought the two solenoids from AppliancePartsPros.com for about $50 total, and it seems to have fixed the problem. Had to watch a few videos to learn to disassemble the dryer, and the job took a couple of hours, but now that I know what I'm doing it could be done in less than 30 minutes. Also, the old solenoids tested for correct range of resistance (and nearly exactly matched the resistance of the brand new ones) but apparently they can test ok when cold and then fail to work properly when in use. Could have ordered same two solenoids online for $10 (guess where?) but they would not be original GE parts and I read some reviews suggesting the cheaper ones could easily fail in a year or less. Probably worth the extra $40 to get original parts. WIll change my rating from 4 to 5 stars if the solenoids hold up and are confirmed to be the solution to the heating problem. 

Checked vent first to see if there was a blockage. Removed top, front and drum of dryer. Replaced all sensors including flame detection and gas valve coils. Re-assembled and tested. Dryer was now heating 

Inlet Thermostat failed. Easy test, no continuity, replaced it. All good now. 

When I confirmed and make sure all the sensor where working, I found one was not working. 

Installed new switch worked! Once I put it back together the panel was dead no power, thinking I may have pulled a wire off door switch. 

Replace the inlet and outlet thermistor 

Ordered a new one and put it on and now it heats. Thanks 

I found a video online that showed me how to run diagnostics on my unit and was able to determine the parts needed. I had previously used the video on this site to repair the matching washer that was leaking so I came back to AppliancePartsPros'com to get the dryer up and running again. Unfortunately, the dryer in the instructional video did not match the dryer I have so I ordered a service manual to determine how to take apart the dryer to replace the parts. One part came damaged from shipping, and I emailed photos and received a prompt response. I can't say how the follow-up would have been because I was so excited to have the parts so quickly and to fix something that others said they couldn't and that I fixed the damaged part and used it anyway. Now my friends joke that I could add appliance repair to my handy girl business. 

Replaced both parts and repaired the contacts to the heating element. The only challenge was getting the gasket around the door to recede properly. It took me two times to get it to stay in place after a trial run. 

Replaced thermister.
