How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP5956400 / WE05X20431 Lamp

Besides the bearing slides, the drum support bearing was also worn down. I watched a helpful video from appliance parts and they have an excellent website which allowed you to enter your dryer model number and then it clearly shows you the parts for your appliances. I also changed the light bulb while I was at it. Very simple to repair- 15 minutes. Standard shipping got me my parts the next day. SUPER FAST! Thank you Appliance PROS! 

Replace with new timer 

Replaced the drum support bearing and the bearing slides. 

Piece of cake...replaced bearing support and bearing glides. Video helped. Only issue is unclear about what glides need to be ordered and where they go. Had to look at another sight video. Grey glides go on top and nylon glides go on each side at the bottom. So you order two grey and two white glides. You also need a TORX driver to get the control panel free. So this and a Phillips Head #2 screwdriver and you are home free. 

I couldn't find a replacement bulb anywhere locally. I went online an ordered one thinking it would me a week or more until I received it. I couldn't believe it came in one day. I put the new bulb in no problem. 

Replaced bulb. 

This was a pretty easy fix. My son and I did it together. Hardest part was unstacking the dryer off the washer. If you have even just a little bit of mechanical sense then you should be able to get this done. 

Replaced the upper drum bearing with new bearing slides. Also replaced the felt trap duct and a new light bulb. 

WITH THE PARTS I ORDERED 

Removed the old coils from the heating element and replaced with the new ones. Removed old thermal fuse and replaced with the new one. Replaced the belt while the drum was out. Added a light bulb.
