How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3682051 / WB02X11096 Latch

This part is an identical and perfect replacement for the door latch on my GE Advantium PSA1201RSS 01 microwave. GE doesn't document this part separately on their exploded view of this oven's door but it's available. 

Easy fix! Took old latch off and put new one on. Was able to fix it in less than 5 minutes! 

Knocked off bottom part of latch. Ordered it, got it a few days earlier than expected. Took a small flat screwdriver and carefully removed the plastic frame and removed door off hinge. Then carefully lifted out inner door metal part where latch sits in 2 slots. Removed the spring and removed broken latch. Inserted replacement latch, reconnected spring with small needle nose pliers. Lowered inner door, put door on hinges and replaced plastic frame. Problem solved. 15 minutes. I had already replaced the outer door handle on a previous occasion so I knew how to do all this. 

Watch several videos on how to replace a broken door latch. The videos were all helpful, but there was one that was a extremely help which greatly simplified installation. However, the videos all explained how to replace a broken door latch with a broken spring. My spring was intact and only the tip of the plastic was broken. Replacing the new plastic piece was very difficult stretching the spring far enough to insert the plastic latch into that two slots. After about 30 minutes, I said a little prayer asking my guardian for help and almost instantly the plastic hooks slipped into the appropriate slots. Doing the job myself saved me a lot of money. 

After searching online found the part on this website and decided to order it. It arrived in just a few days. It took me $13.46 (including shipping) and 7 minutes to fix my microwave. And the only tool I used was a butter knife. Thanks to this website and videos on YouTube I didn’t have to spend about $300 to replace the microwave.

I could kiss the person that posted this part first. I was almost ready to give up after a few web sites and calling the official GE Parts place which told me it was discontinued, Somehow I found this and just want to reiterate the model PSA 1201 RSS 01 latch is an identical replacement, I bought the spring which was paired with the latch but it was shorter so don't purchase the spring, My only add is after removing the door find a flat surface and lay down towels or a blanket to protect door. 

Between the youtube videos and then being able to find and purchase the part on your site for about 5 dollars, I saved several hundred bucks.( According to GE, I would apparently need to buy a whole new door) Bought the part on your site, it was delivered super fast! (two days!) and the repair took less than 10 minutes. Thank You!
