How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP5270191 / WH44X10288 Door Latch Lid Lock

Remove the 2 screws that hold on the front cover just above the washer, the control board is in front of you. Remove the 2 small screws that secure the board, they are star screws, very small ones, do not drop them, for they will fall into the washer tub. Take a picture of the wiring harness, press the 2 tabs on each side of the board, left and right side, the board will pop out. replace the wiring harness, wiring harness has tabs that hold them in place. Also, check the magnetic lid switch, wiring connector is in a bad spot and will break. 

New lid switch and reset the setting. Works as new 

Unplugged the machine, Removed 2 screws to the left top rim inside of machine, fished out, remove the old switch and attached new one. Aligned to screw holes and screwed back into place. Plugged back in the machine. Works perfectly! Shout out to Holly who made sure I got the right part since the model number was slightly different. She was very friendly and helpful. 

Ordered the door/lid latch assembly. (Inclds the switch)

Got a new lid lock switch to fix my problem. Works great now and I had to clear the circuit also. 

Diagnosed problem. Parts came fast and was exactly the right parts and made my washer work like new again! 

These locks are just a switch and they obviously go out at some point. Our stack wash/dry was stopped in the middle of a wash and would proceed no further. With the help of a Youtube video I quickly replaced the lid lock switch and all is well. Wife's happy, so I'm happy. 

I ordered a new lid lock and 4 new tub support rods. The rear tub support rods were more difficult to reach and install (as you can imagine) but I was able to complete the task. The lid lock was much easier to replace, just remove 2 screws.
