How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP5793681 / WH02X10363 Hub Nut

Using repair help suggestions from other users and youtube, I narrowed it down to the transmission (part #320) mainly because it was a metal-to-metal noise. The parts came in one day, thank you AppliancePartsPros.com. I installed the transmission but the noise was still there. Unfortunately, I didn't investigate enough and found a youtube video that suggested it could be the mode shifter (part #325) and that's what it was. I still saved money because having a service tech fix this problem would have still cost 3 times what I paid for parts and fixing it myself. if you are mechanically inclined, fix it yourself! 

I placed an 18 inch pipe wrench on the plastic spline on the bottom shaft and was able to use and extension and break-over bar to get the tub nut loose. 

Replaced it 

Self fixed, but was a little challenging, but we did get it done
