How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2031031 / WB44X200 Oven Bake Element

I ordered the replacement element from Appliance Pros and watched the video instructions. The tip to be mindful of not letting the wires fall back behind the wall unit was very helpful. I used a 10" length of tape to hold the wires in place and also to be able to pull them back out if they did fall. The original screws holding the backplate to the oven wall and attaching the wires to the element had hex nut heads which required a socket set. AppliancePros offered overnight shipping, which was an necessity for this repair as the element broke 1 day after we decided to have a last minute Superbowl party and had already invited guests and with only 3 days before Superbowl sunday. Also, the accurate search function on the website and the instruction videos were a major plus. 

Replaced the element. Although the repair was a variant on what was shown in the video, e.g., I needed a nut driver rather than a screw driver and the electrical connections were screwed together rather than simple spade connectors, the time it took me from cutting the power to the oven from the breaker box to restoring power was 14 minutes. That included a bit of cleaning as long as I was in the oven. The replacement part was a perfect match. I immediately mixed up a batch of cookies to test the oven with delicious results. 

The part as ordered was a perfect fit, with the stand-off legs and rear pivot plate exactly as the OEM equipment. Have high confidence the part will perform equally as well, given the quality of the external construction details. Price was much better than ordering through GE or others. 

Replaced the coil with a new part from appliance parts pros. I found the oven circuit in the circuit box and turned it off. I used the ratchet to remove the fasteners and reconnect the wires. It was easy and fixed the problem. 

Followed on line directions. Main difficulty was detaching the cables from the old element. It required holding flange with pliers and use a small socket wrench. Same process to attach cables to new element. Otherwise, no problem. 

Very easily and quickly since applicance parts Pros sent the new element in just days and it was replaced quickly. my oven works like new. wish you had a part to make the oven's self cleaning component work now! thank you Lisa 

Turned off electricity, removed existing bake element (6.5 mm nuts), installed new element, restoree power 

This part did the trick! It works like brand new. Thanks. 

Called Appliance Pro and talked to representative to be sure their part number would be OK for my very old Hotpoint oven. There were very helpful and delivery of the new part was very fast. 

I replaced it with the part I ordered. Would have been an even easier repair if the screws on the existing heating element hadn't rusted, but it was still super easy!
