How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2019709 / WB08T10002 Oven Light Socket Assembly

Replaced the Oven Lamp Holder Assembly from AppliancePartsPros.com. 

We ordered a new socket and replaced the old one. 

Replace with new, works like new money. 

Removed control panel cover ( 3 screws ) and the oven door to simplify access. Appliance Parts Pros was great! The new lamp holder unit was perfect and delivered on time. Removed 2 screws inside oven holding Lamp holder, removed 2 wires inside control box connected to lamp holder unit, pulled damaged lamp holder down and out. Install new Lamp Holder, reattach 2 wires. Turn the power back on. Important TIPS 1. SHUT OFF POWER AT MAIN PANEL FIRST! 2. It is not necessary to remove the oven from the cabinet. GOOD LUCK 

The oven socket was burned out and also part of the black wire connector.. My husband was able to reconnect the wires and it actually took longer to change out with having to do the extra work...Time 1/2 hr. or so 

After 2 different repair companies and my home warranty company didn’t come through, I decided to try repairing myself. Should have just done that in the first place! Super easy repair: remove two hex screws holding socket inside oven and four screws from the sheet metal cover on oven back. Socket has tabs that just clip onto stove wiring- very simple. Part even comes with a fresh bulb in it. 

1980 Jenn-Air Kitchen Range. The tab that touches the base of the light bulb no longer touched the bulb. This glass cover is only a fingers width from the broiler element. Today I baked Lemon Curd Bars and roasted peanuts and the glass did not break. This part worked perfectly, replacing the Jenn-Air holder that was recessed in the top back corner. The bulb was surrounded by porcelain. This new part will make changing the light bulb much easier. The origional set up made it difficult to grip, when unscrewing the bulb. Replaced the bulb, the holder and lens with brand new parts.
