How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2617344 / WD24X10018 Piston & Nut Assembly

Easy as can be! Remove a screen, unscrew the part, insert the new one and replace the screen. Takes just about 15 minutes! 

Replaced the piston assembly at rear of tub bottom. Plunger gasket had eroded and would not seal. Removal of two hex screws and drain cover allowed removal of defective piston assembly (used pliers handles to unscrew assembly). New assembly was easy to screw in, then replaced cover and screws. Only extra step was to unclip heater coil from clip to gain access to screws more easily. Very easy repair, and fixed the problem. 

Replaced with new parts! Quick and easy! 

After paying a technician $300 to come out and replace the motor and pump, I was horrified to discover my dishwasher not draining. I found this website and explained the probable cause and the solution. The part arrived in a couple of days and it was easy to fit, so I did it myself. Now my dishwasher is basically as good as new. I am very satisfied. 

Replaced the valve body gasket, check valve assy, and the piston and nut assy.

An appliance service person thought the problem sounded too expensive to be worth fixing on this old dishwasher and recommended that I just buy a new one (admittedly, this was over the phone and free advice). This was a super easy fix. I just removed the nuts with the nut driver as shown in the video and used the pliers to take the old piston/nut assembly out and put the new one in. It took about 5 minutes and then the dishwasher worked as good as new. 

Replaced the water valve and Piston-Nut.
