Instead of spending $600 for a comprable replacement dishwasher, I spent about $225 to purchase new upper and lower genuine GE replacement dish racks. The bottom rack just rolls in. The top rack is installed by removing the plastic end caps on the front of the roller tracks by grabbing with your hand and twisting slightly until the tabs clear the track, then pull out. Then pull out the old rack (the tracks no not come out). Next, remove the upper spray arm assembly using the 1/4” nut driver. The spray arm itself needs to come off first to be able to get to the spindle that is attached to the rack. Be sure to note the attach point on the old rack before removing it. Clean and attach to the new rack. Install the new rack onto the tracks and re-attach the plastic end caps, making sure the water supply tube lines up with the water supply outlet on the back wall of the dishwasher. All done.
Having never done this before, it was straightforward, taking about 30 minutes. While the spray arm was out I took a pipe cleaner to clean out the outlet holes, as some of them were clogged with debris.
