How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2042901 / WE4X881 Dryer Rotary Start Switch

Removed all knobs from all controls, the 4 screws holding the cover of the control panel on removed old switch put in new switch, put all of the knobs back on all of the controls and everything worked fine. About a ten minute job. 

Installed the belt on the drum through the gap between the drum and the dryer housing. The product information said 2 hours installation. I had the job done along with the installation of the start switch and back together running in 30 minutes. 

I replaced it with a new one. 

Ordered new start switch and start knob; installed both within 10 minutes; problem fixed!! could not believe have quickly my parts arrived from appliance parts pro; great service

Went on you tube to see what the problem might be. Viewed the video from Appliance parts and then went to the website. Selected and verified the part that I needed and ordered the part. Installed the part per the video and ended up saving a hundred bucks... Great company.

Over time, the knob clip and the projection from the start switch broke off. The dryer couldn't start without these parts. I watched a do-it-yourself video from AppliancePartsPros.com and ordered a knob clip assembly and rotary starter switch. I completed the repair all by myself after viewing the video. It was so easy and not intimidating at all! I can't believe I was going to buy a new dryer because I thought it couldn't be fixed.
