I purchase my house 1 year ago this month. I did not know the repair history of the appliances and when the stove burners failed to ignite, I decided to take the top off and take a look. The process is simple, remove the three Torx screws from each burner, than use a plastic putty knife to release the latches (on both sides) so the top could be removed.
The burner igniter was an aftermarket one and of low quality. I searched on the GE OEM part number and found this Spark Module Svc Kit offered here for a great price. This kit comes with the ignitor coil and new burner ignitors. These are GE OEM parts!
Installation was simply, simply push the old ignitors up and out of each burner carrier and push in the appropriate replacement. Than remove the Line and Neutral connection to the ignitor coil and remove the defective coil (note, please remove power from the stove before doing this). Simply snap in the replacement in the back plane slots, connect the Line and Neutral wires to the correctly labeled connections on the coil and connect the burner ignitors to each output connectors on the coil.
My stove burners now ignite immediately...as if new!
