How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2039841 / WD22X155 Lower Spray Arm

Removed lower dish rack. Removed broken spray arm by turning it counter-clockwise. Checked opening for debris. Attached new spray arm by turning clock-wise. Replaced lower dish rack. 

Replaced spray arm by hand. It took less than 5 minutes . Dishwasher now runs like new again. 

Ordered this part. Definitely fixed the problem in my case. 

Ordered a new part -and watched Youtube to learn how to remove & install 

First I fixed the leak by replacing the supply hose gasket where it attaches to the electric valve. But then I noticed the lower spray arm was damaged. I watched the video on how to replace that part. The video was a big help as I didn't know it was a screw in part. The gasket in the supply hose is the same as a garden hose rubber gasket. finding that leak took the most time. 

An easy fix that gave immediate results! The dishes were not being properly cleaned - particularly those in the upper rack. After reviewing the problem on the APP website, I decided to replace the lower spray arm (which is the ONLY spray arm in my 20-year old dishwasher). I first watched a video on how to do the replacement. The only tool that was needed was a screwdriver, which I used to loosen the old spray arm. I took the old arm out (GROSS!) out and screwed the new one in. Loaded up the washer, turned it on and presto! Everything came out sparkling clean. AppliancePartsPros.com to the rescue again. 

Ordered an upper and lower spray arm for my 20 year old GE dishwasher. Everything was working well otherwise (no leaks, heating, cycles, draining properly). It just wasn't getting enough water sprayed in the machine (could still see residue/particles all over dishes and walls). After replacing the spray arms and running a few loads with 4 cups of white vinegar in the bottom of the machine, things are clean again. 

Purchased entire spray arm and installed it, works like a champ.

Replaced the broken spray arm with a new part
