How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2039859 / WD22X10017 Lower Spray Arm

No repair neeed 

Spent a long time cleaning out accumulated soap buildup. Replaced 'Piston Nut' valve. Problem continued. Found a leak from the solenoid actuated drain flap in pump assembly. Solenoid was corroded due to leak. Decided to replace entire pump unit due to age and accumulated build up in all parts. Replacement was easy after pulling dishwasher out and turning upside down. Also replaced flapper valve, and lower spray arm assembly. Dishwasher is now running great with no problems. 

Removed and replaced with a new one. 

Bought a new spray arm. 

We noticed that the central pillar did not seem to extend very high and it didn't look like water would efficiently reach the upper spray arm. And when we found photos of this replacement part, we saw that the pillar should have three segments while ours only had two. So we replaced the lower spray arm assembly, and now it works wonderfully. No more cleaning dishes before we put them in the dishwasher. 

I tracked down the replacement part and installed it. If I had realized how easy it was I would have done it earlier. It just screwed in by hand. I had to replace the base that went with it.
