How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2623240 / WB06T10007 Clear Tape

This part worked great to swap out the fan switch. Getting access to the switch was an ordeal. I watched several available youtube videos for other GE cooktops which showed how to lift up the cooktop and access the swtichbox; however the downdraft version requires additional steps to access the switches, and I could not find a video. I was able to drop the wire housing box by removing four mounting screws from below. This lowered the wire housing box approximately 4-5 inches as it was limited by the wires. I was then able to push the broken switch down out of its slot, and swap out the broken switch via that 4-5 inch gap from the side and under the counter. Cleaned all cooktop parts, reassembled the switchbox, installed new Clear Tape, and new Foam Tape, and dropped back into the counter. Tested all the functionality and celebrated the successful repair! 

I had a repair tech diagnose the problem. He said the Daughter Board was no longer available. I located the board on AppliancePartsPros.com. After I viewed a "How To" video on thier site, I also purchased the two different tapes needed to complete the repair. I am a retired school teacher. NOT an electronics wizard. The total time to repair my cooktop was about an hour. My total cost was under $130.00 Much better than the $1200.00 for a new replacement unit. Shipping was fast and to my door. 

Removed glass cooktop. Replace burner. Tested it. Put glass cooktop back on with clear tape and rubber edge tape. Your videos are awesome and greatly simplify the process. Sorry to say the dual burner from you was way over priced. Found it from an ebay seller for almost $100 less (brand new sealed in package). Time to repair was spread over four days. Had to remove glass to determine if the problem was burner or control switch. Then order parts and wait. Then put it back together. 

Looked up the part and watched the how to YouTube video on making the repair. I followed the instructions in the video and I fixed it by myself in about two hours. 

Ordered the part and the recommended clear and foam tapes. Followed the how-to video on your site. 

I watched your video on replacing the cooktop. My model number was not visible, and I had to take the glass off in order to see which element to order. I replaced the tape as shown in the video. I have a lot of the foam tape left over. The project took several days because I had to order an element after I knew which one was correct. 

Replaced the 6" Radiant Element. 

Needed the tape for the top of my cooktop stove. Both of the old tapes were stuck to the stop top even the clear which only has glue on the section that sticks to the stove frame not the glass top. had to use a puddy knife to pry the top loose. After that the new tape went on smoothly and the job was finished without any other problems.

Under normal operation, the burner turns on and off to keep the temperature at the right level based on the control. However, sometimes the burner would just stay on burning the food and presenting a fire hazard. I consult information on AppliancePartsPros.com and found I need to replace the Infinite Control Switch. There was a video of a repair person replacing that part on the same actual model of my GE stovetop. By watching this video I realized I also needed the Clear Tape and the Foam Tape. The video also showed everything I needed to do and I was able to complete the repair.
