How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2044414 / WE4M181 Cycling Thermostat

My son helped me. He replaced bearing assy, heat element, temp control switch and I replaced the motor. It was all greatly facilitated by the online videos. I'm glad we did it, runs great now and we had a good learning experience. Now its like a new dryer at half the cost. 

Replace element coil and thermostats. 

Replaced GE Cycling Thermostat. Easy installation. Follow the video that Appliance Parts Pros provides and all should go smoothly. You can peek on the right side of the drum to see where the belt goes around the tensioner. 

I ordered the valve coil kit and the cycling thermostat and replaced all 3 pieces (not knowing which was the culprit of the not heating issue). Turned the dryer on, and it heats once again! Easy fix & the videos from AppliancePartsPros were very helpful. Took me a little longer to fix than I wanted, but that's because I was watching the videos and stopping as I was completing each step. 

Replaced cycling thermostat as recommended in troubleshooting section. Dryer operation back to normal. 

I have a cottage on an island in Canada. I live in Pennsylvania. it is difficult and very expensive to get repair people out to the Island Cottage. I do not have internet access on the island. So I took the model number of the dryer home and tried to diagnose it and get whatever part might be the solution and I took those up to the island with me. on the AppliancePartsPros videos the first thing they said to check was to see if your dryer isn't venting out and to see if the vents are blocked. I didn't know to do that. I went to the island and sure enough it was just a matter of the vents being blocked, so now I will Avail myself of the opportunity to return the products that I bought to repair the dryer. 

Replaced the thermostat ,also replacent both the lint and felt strips...watch the how to repair videos in your website...definite made the job a lot easier... 

Watched a lot of videos to learn how to disassemble and test dryer parts. Determined build up of lint had developed. Subsequently the cycling thermostat burned out. Also, one gas coil tested problematic. Ordered both coils to be safe. Works great now! 

Installed new safety thermostat & replaced Drum sleeve while it was apart because of age of sleeve and o ring.
