I called Appliance Parts Pros and they sent me another knob. The girl I spoke with on the phone, Nadine, was extremely helpful. 

Ordered part from Appliance Parts Pro. GE had already let me down. I had to wait until the part was in stock, then GE promptly lost it in their warehouse. When I called and asked, they acted as if the part never actually made it to their warehouse and would re-order it for me. Then it was going to be another 6 week wait. I am so disappointed in GE. Your company had the part in stock, it was half the cost of GE and it arrived when you said it would. Even the review were very helpful. The original part on the dryer has a default. The new knob is better made. Thank you. 

Ordered a new one. 

We ordered the part, with help from the site, we were able to get the right one. It just popped in place and dryer works as good as new! 

Purchased a new Timer knob 

Replaced with new one. Called order in and two days later received it . Good job Albany warehouse 

Ordered a new one it is better than the original
